I will be in London (around Canary Wharf) between the 7th and 9th of June. If you are in the London area and would like to take one of the EGS guitars for a spin, let me know and I will bring it.

I have added three more clips featuring Jonas Isaksson. They all go through each of the pickup positions first clean and then distorted. The settings are the same on the signal chain across all the guitars.

.fuzzMagazine Interview*
by Ola Strandberg
May 21st, 2010

I just delivered Per Boysen at the railroad station to go back to Stockholm. The reason for his visit was an interview for FUZZ magazine, the leading guitar magazine in Scandinavia. Per has had #2, #3, and #4 on loan during the week and seemed to have enjoyed the experience a lot.

Expect to see the interview in the September issue of the magazine. Per’s personal favorite was #3, both in terms of sound and feel. This pleases me since it is the only one with trapezoidal neck profile (contact Rick Toone for more information about this neck profile) and the majority of players to date have preferred #2. We had a look at my shop, some parts, work in progress and discussed a lot of concepts and ideas – for which we have very similar thoughts.

I have uploaded a couple more clips to YouTube. Also, in an effort to separate the person Ola from the business Strandberg Guitarworks, I have created a dedicated page on Facebook. So, be sure to watch the videos, tell your friends and “Like” me on Facebook. I will keep posting video clips on Facebook over the next few days.

Jonas Isaksson plays short clips on each of the guitars, first clean then distorted.

Jonas Isaksson plays short clips on three of the EGS guitars with no effects at all. Edited to allow comparison of the sounds.

Here are a few sound/video clips of the EGS guitars. They are recorded with the video camera built-in microphone so not particularly high quality, but should provide some comparison between the different guitars.

The clips are all recorded with identical settings of all controls, with very neutral settings. No reverb or effects, except for a bit of overdrive in the first clip.

More clips will follow.

I have just returned from the FUZZ Guitar Show 2010 in Gothenburg, which was exhausting and energizing at the same time. The interest was huge, and I had people in the booth most of the time. I didn’t have a lot of time to walk around the rest of the show this year, so unfortunately I cannot offer too many insights on the show as a whole, except that it was well organized as far as I am concerned and that there were a lot of visitors – I heard the number 2,500 on Saturday. Many attendees had travelled from Norway, Denmark and Finland to attend.

¨

Our entire room was completely crowded on Saturday but little more quiet on Sunday. On the table, you can see Rick Toone’s neck with the intonation adjustable nut, which he describes further here.

I was sharing a room with True Temperament, Lehnert Amps, Lundgren Pickups and Moody Sounds – all great people and all great products.

Above are Anders and Per from True Temperament and Ola of Lehnert Amps while setting up.

A more detailed picture of the guitar display.

Several people who swung by the booth knew of Strandberg Guitarworks already and were familiar with the web site. But I particularly appreciated a visit by Enrico Di Donato from Italy, “serial customer” of EGS bridges.

I had intended to have a sound clip competition, but since Saturday was so crowded and crazy, I called it off. During Sunday, I did manage to record some video clips which will be posted shortly.
